Modelling Toaster

Everything started with a box as all great thing in 3D max.



Convert box to editable poly and started to shape toaster by rounding corners using chamfer tool.


Selecting polygons to extrude them inside toaster.


Selected top middle polygons and detached them from main body. This is going to be toaster inside, metal part. In there using compound object i create part of metal border ant multiplied it using array tool. the did same thing with cylinder which is going to be heat wire. Everything grouped to their parts as we don't want anything to get lost. Also created few more bits and mouth which are separate bits.







Eyes were made using class tutorial. It is made of sphere and its copies. Eye components were grouped together and applied with FDDbox modifier. This allows eye to be deformed easily without interfering with eye lid movement around eyeball.



In motion panel I applied look at constraint to eyes. This way I can easily control the movement of eyes.




I am not going to have bones or biped in my toaster. Instead I am using morpher and FDDbox modifier. with morpher modifier  I manage to create multiple shapes of mouth and then recall certain one when it is required. Same thing with toaster body. On body I applied FDDbox modifier which will give me more flexibility and deformation to animate expressions of my toaster.
